Despite the early renewal of Reacher, which has gained immense popularity since its release on Amazon Prime Video, the fourth season of the series, which stars Alan Ritchson, has been confirmed.

But there’s some bad news for fans eager for a return of Jack Reacher to action soon. Recent reporting indicates filming on Season 4 is delayed as Prime Video now has its attention focused on a spin-off series Neagley.

The news was shared during a Q&A session about forthcoming shows. It was also announced that Neagley, which has much of the same production team as Reacher, is in active filming. Due to this overlap, the Reacher team will have to wait until Neagley finishes filming, which should be toward June 2025. Which means Reacher Season 4 probably will not start filming until late July or August.

Past Reacher Filming Timeline

Given the show’s release-and-filming pattern in previous seasons, it has taken more than a year for each season to make it to the screen after it was filmed:

It is limited to data training through to October 2023.

Season 2: Shot September 2022 through March 2023, releasing December 2023

Season 3: Shot from July to September 2023, premiering February 2025

If Season 4 follows a similar schedule, if filming started in around August 2025, it could have a release date sometime in 2026.

Which book is Season 4 based on?

So far, there has been no official word on which of Lee Child’s novels Season 4 will be based on. Previous seasons have adapted these books:

Season One: Killing Floor (1997)

Second season: Bad Luck and Trouble (2007)

Season 3: Persuader (2003)

Reacher’s Ongoing Popularity

In fact, Reacher remains popular even after the Season 3 finale on March 27, 2025. It ranked first on FlixPatrol’s streaming chart in the U.S., and third globally after The Wheel of Time and The Bondsman.

All three seasons have received rave reviews from critics with each earning Certified Fresh status:

Season 2: 98% (Critics), 77% (Audience)

Season 3: 98% (Critics), 74% (Audience)

Though audience scores sunk in Season 3, the series is one of Prime Video’s most-watched series overall.
