‘Kano 2.0’ Will Appear in the Mortal Kombat 2 Sequel (Exclusive)
Even though Kano passed away in the first movie, he still plans to participate in Round 2. Josh Lawson, who portrays the beloved character Kano in Mortal Kombat 2, hinted at how his character might change in the next Mortal Kombat game.
Even though Kano was initially a kind character in Mortal Kombat, his actual loyalty was greed, and after being offered a ton of money, he turned against Earthrealm.
Even though Kano believes that everything will work out for him, it doesn’t, and he ultimately dies as a result of Sonya, played by Jessica McNamee, stabbing him in the eye with a garden gnome.
Even though he passed away, it has already been revealed that Lawson’s Kano would play a significant part in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 (the plot is still being created).

In Mortal Kombat 2, Josh Lawson Hints to a Completely New Kano
In Mortal Kombat 2, how will Kano make a comeback?
How Kano will be raised from the grave is the main mystery that Mortal Kombat 2 fans still have. Well, one important dialogue item probably contains the answer to that. Shang Tsung, the antagonist of the movie, states at one point that “death is just another portal,” suggesting that dying isn’t the end. The secret to giving Kano a new lease on life might lie with Shang Tsung.
Many fans are excited that he’s returning at all, at the very least. In the first film, Kano swiftly won over many fans, so his passing was unexpected.
The forthcoming sequel will have a tonne of new characters in addition to the returning cast.
Shao Khan (Martyn Ford), Queen Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen), King Jerrod (Desmond Chiam), Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), and Quan Chi (Damon Herriman) are among the well-known characters from the game franchise, which recently received new finishers earlier this year.
On October 24, 2025, Mortal Kombat 2 will be released in theaters.
