MCU Films

Before the series debuts on Disney+, there are a few important MCU films to watch, especially with Marvel’s Secret Invasion and Nick Fury’s comeback coming up shortly.

Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury in Marvel’s Secret Invasion, which will soon be available to stream on Disney+. Nick Fury is finally returning to Earth in response to a new alien threat that is being kept secret from the general public. Given his extended absence from Earth, it could be challenging to recall Nick Fury’s activities since the MCU’s last appearance. The real Nick Fury hasn’t likely been seen on Earth in much longer.

Jackson’s Nick Fury has recruited and led heroes like the Avengers to join something greater than themselves since he first appeared in the MCU with 2008’s Iron Man. When no one else could, he was forced to make difficult decisions. Regardless, Nick Fury has consistently been in the MCU, even if he wasn’t always the real Fury. Before Marvel’s Secret Invasion, check out these MCU films.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

In addition, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a wonderful film to see before Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Not only does it highlight the global political constraints of the present and the ongoing arms race between superpowers for vibranium in particular, but it also welcomes back Special Agent Ross (Martin Freeman) from the CIA. In Secret Invasion, Agent Ross will play a part. In the trailers, he is seen learning about a vast conspiracy involving rogue Skrulls who have entered political arenas around the world in an effort to conquer Earth. On Disney+, Marvel’s Secret Invasion will start streaming on June 21.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

The Skrulls Talos and Soren, allies who initially appeared in Captain Marvel, were subsequently revealed to be both Fury and Hill, even though the fact that Fury played a significant role in Spider-Man: Far From Home while Peter Parker dealt with the death of Iron Man. The former SHIELD director was observed reporting to the real Fury while aboard a spaceship with numerous other Skrulls, indicating that he was still working to assist the alien race in finding a new home. However, this begs the question of whether Talos was Talos during any of Fury’s other MCU appearances.

 Avengers: Endgame

In the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, Nick Fury attended Tony Stark’s funeral after being brought back by the Avengers along with everyone else who had been snapped by Thanos. It’s also important to note that Fury was the final person to be seen present, signifying his significance in Tony’s life and his film debut in 2008’s Iron Man.

 Captain Marvel

Nick Fury’s early days in the MCU as a SHIELD agent are revealed in 2019’s Captain Marvel, which is set around 1995. Fury and Carol meet Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel as the Skrull race begins to colonize Earth, and they learn that the alien Skrulls are the victors while the Kree Empire is the aggressor in their ongoing struggle. Carol and Fury make a vow to assist the Skrulls in finding a new home in the cosmos after dealing with the initial Kree force of ships and soldiers. However, it appears that the upcoming Secret Invasion series will heavily rely on Captain Marvel’s failure to honor her pledge.

Avengers: Infinity War

Nick Fury, who appeared at the very end of Avengers: Infinity War with Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), was keeping an eye on the situation in Wakanda before to the catastrophe. Tragically, Thanos’ deployment of the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all life in the cosmos included erasing Fury and Hill from existence. However, just before he vanished into thin air, Fury was able to utilize his altered pager to contact Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

Avengers: Age of Ultron

In 2015’s Age of Ultron, Fury made a comeback to aid the Avengers in their fight against Ultron. Fury did this by lending the original Helicarrier from the first Avengers as a rescue vehicle along with former SHIELD operatives who had remained loyal (and weren’t Hydra moles). As a result, Fury played a significant supporting role in the Battle of Sokovia. He also assisted Iron Man in overcoming some of his anguish and anxiety related to his visions of the future involving Thanos.

Captain America The Winter Soldier (2014)

Following The Avengers, Steve Rogers and Nick Fury clashed in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier over Fury’s efforts to develop preemptive security measures for the entire world through the dubious Project Insight. However, the terrorist group Hydra had long since ingratiated itself into SHIELD, resulting in a full-on takeover that saw Fury and Rogers collaborating to destroy the entire organization. Following this, Fury chose to disappear from public view and look for new ways to defend the globe because he was no longer the director of SHIELD.

The Avengers (2012)

Samuel L. Jackson’s first major role in an MCU film, as opposed to his cameos and fleeting appearances in earlier films, was in 2012’s The Avengers. Nick Fury and SHIELD, acting on behalf of the World Security Council, assemble the Avengers as a rescue squad to recover the Tesseract that Thor’s brother Loki had taken. The world was spared during the Battle of New York thanks to Fury’s unwavering faith in the Avengers Initiative, which continued to exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe even after the official Avengers Initiative had been abandoned.

Captain America (2011)

In his brief debut in Captain America: The First Avengers from 2011, Nicky Fury demonstrates his leadership of SHIELD as they retrieve assets and seek heroes. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) was defrosted by SHIELD in the modern day after being discovered in the ice where he crashed the Red Skull’s plane 70 years after WWII. Later, in a scenario that would appear in the 2012 film The Avengers, Fury is seen enlisting Captain America’s assistance in saving the planet.

Thor (2011)

Nick Fury’s primary objective in the MCU’s Phase 1 is revealed to include the Tesseract in 2011’s Thor. SHIELD started experimenting with the Tesseract as a potential source of limitless power (something that also links to 2019’s Captain Marvel, which is set in 1995), which was later revealed in Phase 2 to be the Space Stone. The first Avengers’ Nick Fury recruits heroes to help preserve the planet as a result of the Tesseract’s power getting into the wrong hands.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

By directing Iron Man to his father’s research, which enables him to produce a new element that won’t kill him, Nick Fury and his agent Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) assist Iron Man with his palladium illness in the 2010 film Iron Man 2. Additionally, they informed Stark that his role would be limited to consulting for the Avengers Initiative. At the same time, viewers are given further hints about the SHIELD director and the additional issues he must deal with in addition to Iron Man.

Iron Man (2008)

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is startled to discover a figure with a long trench coat and eye patch at his house standing in the dark after creating his armor and defeating Obadiah Stane in the original Iron figure. The character of Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, makes his first appearance here, confirming that Iron Man has joined a larger universe and attempting to enlist the wealthy inventor in SHIELD’s Avengers Initiative. It’s a ideal introduction to a character who is so dynamic and who is Marvel’s best super spy.
