Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday' Set to Begin Filming in London This March

Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Gearing Up to Film March 2025 – RDJ back as Doctor Doom

Avengers: Doomsday: Marvel Studios officially has the highly anticipated project in the pipeline, set for films to start in March 2025. Filming will take place in London, UK, and will take approximately five weeks until August 2025. This top update has excited Marvel fans, as it has marked another big part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) going towards the next Avengers: Secret Wars.

Despite being only a teaser trailer, Avengers: Doomsday has revealed one of its biggest surprises: the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, but at the moment, there’s just a twist: he’s not Tony Stark/Iron Man. Instead, he will play Doctor Doom — one of Marvel’s most iconic villains. Downey Jr. will reportedly be on set for about three months, while other heavy hitters, such as Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), will only need about one month of filming time. In some cases, however, they might only be needed for one to two weeks, such as supporting cast members.

With action storylines and themes inspired by two of the biggest Avengers films, Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, will helm Avengers: Doomsday. The screenplay is written by Stephen McFeely, who also co-wrote several previous MCU films.

The plot will reportedly center on the multiverse and Doctor Doom’s effort to merge every reality into a single one called Battleworld that he can lord over. With stakes never been higher, this film is going to challenge the way forward for the MCU.

Marvel Studios, as you may know, has officially logged Avengers: Doomsday for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
