Indian theaters will finally see Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which marked its tenth anniversary with a worldwide IMAX re-release last year. On February 7, 2025, Warner Bros. India revealed that the science fiction epic would be released.
Pushpa 2 The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, was supposedly taking over IMAX screens at the moment, therefore India reportedly missed out on the IMAX experience even though the global re-release took place in September 2024. Nolan preferred to use 70MM IMAX prints for his films, and these were used in the foreign re-releases. But as of right now, no commercial theater in India uses this screen format.
Indian fans will now have the opportunity to see Interstellar again on a large screen, despite these restrictions. The 2014 film centers on NASA pilot Joseph Cooper (played by Matthew McConaughey), who, as Earth’s ecosystem collapses, sets out to find livable worlds in space. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, Matt Damon, and Bill Irwin are also part of the cast.
This re-release seems to be timed to capitalize on the success of Nolan’s most recent blockbuster, Oppenheimer. The movie, which won seven Academy Awards, starred Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, dubbed the “father of the atomic bomb.”
Although ticket information for the re-release of Interstellar has not yet been revealed, it is anticipated to be available as February draws near.
