Fans of Hunter x Hunter are in for a treat this March! As part of the celebration for the upcoming live-action play Hunter x Hunter The Stage 3, the first two stage adaptations of the popular anime and manga series will be available to stream for free on YouTube—but only for a limited time.
These rare stage shows, titled Hunter x Hunter The Stage and Hunter x Hunter The Stage 2, will be uploaded to Jump’s official YouTube channel starting March 29 (March 28 in North America). This is a big deal because neither of these shows has ever been performed outside Japan or made available online internationally before.
The first play will be available from 12 p.m. (JST) and the second one from 3 p.m. (JST). Both will remain on YouTube until April 1, 12 p.m. (JST). Luckily, the channel is not region-locked, so international fans, including those in India, can watch them too.
What Are These Plays About?
The Hunter x Hunter: The Stage series is a live-action adaptation of the original manga created by Yoshihiro Togashi. These plays retell the story of Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck, two young Hunters on their mission to find clues about Gon’s father, Ging.
The upcoming third play, Hunter x Hunter The Stage 3, focuses on the popular “Greed Island” arc. In this part of the story, Gon and Killua head to Yorknew City to win the bid for a rare video game called Greed Island. After a run-in with the dangerous Phantom Troupe, they change their plan and decide to play the game as hired players under a rich man named Mr. Battera.
New Cast and Dates for The Stage 3
The new live show will first run at Tokyo’s Tennozu Galaxy Theater from May 17 to May 25, 2025, followed by a second round in Osaka’s SKY Theater from June 7 to June 15, 2025.
Some cast members have changed for the third play. Rento Nishiyama will now play Gon, replacing Shion Otomo. Nichika Akutsu returns as Killua, and Haruki Okiyama continues as Hisoka. A new character, Nobunaga Hazama, will be played by Murata Mitsuru. The plays are written and directed by Akira Yamazaki, with Go Sakate as the music composer.
