House of the Dragon

Fans of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones have bad news. It’s going to be a lengthy wait.

It’s a reality that every Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fan understands the agony of waiting. The “Coming To Max in 2025” clip, which was previously released, gave a preview of what HBO is preparing for the premieres next year. This leads us to the issue: House of the Dragon is not included, and season 3 is regrettably being further delayed. At the Wells Fargo TMT Summit (H/T Deadline), JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, confirmed the announcement and gave additional details about House of the Dragon and other upcoming HBO series.

The upcoming season of the House of the Dragon is anticipated to debut in mid-2026, Perrette said. “As we look further ahead, we’ll likely see the third season of Euphoria in early 2026, followed by House of the Dragon Season 3, so we’re starting to have at least two or three of our major tentpoles each year.”

HBO will soon explore George R. R. Martin’s universe in a new way, despite the wait. The CEO states that the summer of 2025 will see the release of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It’s important to note, though, that his remarks somewhat run counter to HBO President and CEO Casey Bloys’ earlier this year, in which he hinted at a 2025 Q4 debut. The trade claims that although no formal announcement has been made, that schedule still appears likely.

Every fan may still be considering the cliffhanger that House of the Dragon left at the conclusion of season two. When fans find out that the cast hasn’t yet received the scripts for the upcoming episodes, they may be dealt another blow. Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Fabian Frankel (Criston Cole), and Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon II Targaryen) all admitted that they were at odds over season 3 at the October New York Comic Con.

Smith stated that he had not heard from Ryan Condal, the showrunner of House of the Dragon, while Glynn-Carney stated that he had not gotten any scripts for the upcoming episodes. “I’ve heard some things that I couldn’t possibly share here,” Frankel hinted, standing apart from his co-stars .

George R.R. Martin has been openly critical of the most recent season 2 of House of the Dragon since it debuted. The author posted comments on his blog regarding specific elements and even the varied decisions made during the production of his book’s adaptation. Fans of House of the Dragon also criticized the final season, saying the episodes moved slowly and dragged on. It is evident from the conclusion of season 2 that fans can expect more of the action they have been anticipating in the upcoming season of House of the Dragon. Once again, winter will arrive, putting all fans to the test of their patience.

You can stream House of the Dragon’s first and second seasons on Max. Season 4 of the show has already been revealed to be its finale; but, if HBO’s chronology is accurate, it might not premiere until 2028.
