​Grand Blue Dreaming Returns Season 2 Release Date and New Trailer

It’s a great time for all the cheerleaders of the common anime ​Grand Blue Dreaming because it is coming back finally with its highly awaited Season 2 on July 7, 2025. The announcement came at AnimeJapan 2025, where a new trailer was also revealed, providing a look at coming episodes. ​

The series is a sequel to the first season, with Iori Kitahara and his friends playing off of their adventures in their college diving club; New characters will include Iori’s little sister Shiori Kitahara, played by Sumire Morohoshi. Aya Yamane and Yoshino Aoyama round out the cast as Sakurako Busujima and Naomi Otoya, respectively.​

Returning to handle the direction and series composition for Season 2 is Shinji Takamatsu of Gekkou Kamen & Gakkou no Kaidan fame. The series was developed by animation studios Zero-G and Liber, with Hideoki Kusama responsible for character designs and Yoichi Ueda as the series’ chief animation director. Yukari Hashimoto joins as the music composer this season. ​

One of the mind-blowing highlights of the upcoming season is its opening theme song, “Seishun Towa,” by Shonan no Kaze with Atarashii Gakko!. The new trailer for the show, which dropped Tuesday night, features the song, bringing further excitement to the show’s impending return. ​

Such a specific announcement for a release date in someone’s home country — yet no announcement of the international release of “Grand Blue Dreaming” Season 2 has been made as of October 2023. Manga and anime fans all over the world are clamoring for an announcement on when they will be able to catch up again with Iori and his friends on their comedic and sincere journey through life. ​

However, if you want to binge-watch the series before the new season drops, the first season of “Grand Blue Dreaming” is also not available online. Fans have thought his possible return had rekindled the manga-based series, leading binge-watchers to check out the books and even other content in the lead-up to the new episodes. ​

For those who reveled in its wet and wild antics back in 2018, the return of “Grand Blue Dreaming” is a welcome event. Abandoning the familiar genre-based shows that are currently dominating TV and diving into a fresh body of work, Season 2 is sure to have all the charm and funku that made Season 1 a heartfelt hit. ​
