Avatar Studios announced the next animated feature in The Last Airbender world, dubbed Avatar: Seven Havens, and fans are already shredded! Set after The Legend of Korra, this new series follows the next Avatar’s reincarnation.

Set to have two seasons (or “books”) of 13 episodes each, the series will be helmed by creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who directed the original series, and retain 2D animation, maintaining the traditional style that fans adore.

Although there’s plenty of enthusiasm for Seven Havens, Avatar Studios hasn’t announced any sort of official release date or streaming platform yet. While past announcements paired concept art or a release window, Seven Havens debuted with little information, leaving fans craving additional information.

Much like in the past, the excitement is also building with upcoming animated film, Aang: The Last Airbender, set to be released on January 30, 2026, as well — along with Avatar Studios being formed to create more Avatar stories. This movie is the first full-length animated feature from the newly formed Avatar Studios, which is part of Nickelodeon Animation.

Is Seven Havens and Aang: The Last Airbender Releasing Together?

Nickelodeon established Avatar Studios in 2021 to build out the beloved franchise. Since then, information about the Aang-centered animated film has dripped out. Directed by Lauren Montgomery, the film will have an entirely new voice cast, including the villain played by Dave Bautista.

Since both projects are being developed through the same studio, it is speculated that Seven Havens could launch in close proximity to the movie release. This approach may very well capitalize on franchise synergy, giving fans a number of Avatar projects to experience in the near future.

Also, 2026 within the range of The Last Airbender’s 20th-anniversary event, making several project releases several events of that time. No doubt such timing would be a welcome treat for fans who have been clamoring for new animated content since Korra wrapped up in 2014.

But there are indications that Seven Havens could take longer than expected to arrive on screens, despite fan hopes for an early release. The announcement offered little in the way of details — no trailers, concept art or official teasers — indicating that the show is still in early preproduction.

Over on the flip side, Avatar Studios probably doesn’t want too much data out there, either, so they don’t over-hype or overinform before it’s due. Assuming the studio adheres to a briefer production schedule, there remains the slim hope that Seven Havens finds its way into the hands of audiences through a simultaneous release with the film by 2026.
