The Wheel of Time Season 3: An Emmy Winner From The Penguin Cast Is Added to The Wheel of Time Season 3
The Wheel of Time’s third season casting details have been made public. The announcement was made months before the program’s March 13, 2025, comeback on Prime Video.
Shohreh Aghdashloo has been formally introduced as a new cast member of The Wheel of Time, which will be included in the next third season of the show. Following her recent involvement in the popular HBO series The Penguin, which is a spinoff of The Batman, this is Aghdashloo’s next major role. Aghdashloo portrayed Nadia Maroni in the series, who was the wife of Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown), a crime boss, and who was brutally murdered by Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell).
Aghdashloo has received praise for her other on-screen roles in addition to her performance in The Penguin. She became the first Iranian actress to receive an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the 2003 movie House of Sand and Fog. Later, Aghdashloo’s performance in the House of Saddam miniseries earned her an Emmy. She is also well-known for playing one of the key characters in The Expanse, Chrisjen Avasarala. In addition to her TV credits in Arcane, 24 and The Punisher, Aghdashloo has acted in movies such as Damsel, The Nativity Story, The Stoning of Soraya M., X-Men: The Last Stand, and The Lake House.
The Function of Shohreh Aghdashloo in the Wheel of Time Aghdashloo will portray “Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan,” a character from Robert Jordan’s original book series that served as the show’s inspiration, in The Wheel of Time Season 3. As skilled at politicking as she is at channeling, the TV character is characterized as a “ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah.” When she returns to the White Tower, she plans to make amends with Siuan (Sophie Okonedo) and Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), with whom she has a long history. Elaida is an individual who prioritizes goals over means and will stop at nothing to realize her vision of the greater good.
“After defeating Ishamael at the end of Season 2, Rand reunites with his friends at Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn,” according to the official synopsis for Season 3 of The Wheel of Time. However, the dangers to the Light are growing in Season 3: the Black Ajah is outlawed, the White Tower is split, former foes reappear in the Two Rivers, and the rest of the Forsaken are chasing the Dragon, including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will force them both to choose between Light and Dark. Rand becomes more and more unlike his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene, as the connections to his past start to fall apart and his tainted authority increases. Now, at all costs, these strong women who began the series as teacher and pupil must cooperate to stop the Dragon from becoming the Dark.
On March 13, 2025, The Wheel of Time’s third season will be available on Prime Video.
