With a few intriguing new streaming releases from Marvel and Star Wars, Disney will close out 2024 and begin 2025
Disney+ will have a lot of Marvel and Star Wars content in the upcoming months and year.
For the most part, 2024 was a sluggish year for Disney’s two largest IP properties. While Star Wars debuted The Acolyte and a new animated season of Tales of the Jedi, the MCU will only have one film and three streaming series.
With three new MCU films and six new Marvel series on Disney+, both franchises are anticipated to come back in 2025.
Dec. 3, 2024: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Jude Law from Fantastic Beasts and Captain Marvel will star in the brand-new live-action series Skeleton Crew, premiere at the end of 2024.
A bunch of young children who unintentionally stole a huge ship and ended up trapped in space will be the main subject of Skeleton Crew. With space pirates and other areas of the cosmos, the program will be unlike anything fans have seen in the Star Wars universe thus far.
It is hinted that Law’s character is a Jedi who saves the main group of children. In return for their assistance with his secret mission, he promises to bring them home.
On Tuesday, December 3, the eight-episode Skeleton Crew series will debut on Disney+, with weekly releases to follow.
December 22, 2024: What if…? Season 3
Marvel Studios made the unexpected announcement that What If…? The MCU’s third season would be its last release in 2024. For the time being, the new season will be the last season of this Multiversal animated adventure, with eight new episodes to join the 18 entries from Seasons 1 and 2.
The first trailer for the season revealed a number of outrageous characters, such as Captain America and Moon Knight in enormous mech outfits and Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop dressed as cowboys. What if…? Storm will also become the first X-Man to co-appear alongside iconic MCU heroes in Season 3, making MCU history.
January 29, 2025: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be the first animated story centered around a webslinger from Marvel Studios. After numerous production issues, the series, which was first announced in November 2021, is now prepared to premiere at the beginning of the new year.
Your Neighborhood Is Friendly Late October saw the release of Spider-Man’s debut trailer, which hinted to an alternate version of Peter Parker’s origin tale not seen in the MCU. He will face some of his most recognizable antagonists in the series, such as Tombstone, Doctor Octopus, and the Green Goblin.
On January 29, 2025, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will debut on Disney+.
March 4, 2025: Daredevil Born Again
Charlie Cox will finally reprise his role as Matt Murdock in the Marvel Studios solo series Daredevil: Born Again, following years of speculation about the Man Without Fear in the MCU. The fact that Daredevil: Born Again will carry on straight from the events of Netflix’s Defenders Saga into the MCU is even more thrilling.
Matt will reunite with Foggy Nelson and Karen Page for an exciting new adventure in Born Again, which follows Daredevil’s appearances in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. With Wilson Fisk rising to the position of Mayor of New York, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will also put them in greater danger than before.
Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will be back, and Daredevil will have plenty of new foes to contend with that pose a threat to the security of his city. This includes the White Tiger and Muse in the MCU, who are both capable of engaging in physical combat with the main antagonist of the series.
Daredevil: Born Again will launch on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, as confirmed at New York Comic-Con.
April 22, 2025: Andor Season 2
Andor, which was one of the most well-reviewed Star Wars ventures in 2022, will finally return in 2025 with a new season, starring Diego Luna and crew. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Season 2 will be Andor’s final season on Disney+.
Since Andor is supposed to set up the events of Rogue One (2016), viewers are already fully aware of how it will conclude. Between Episodes III and IV of that film, Andor joins the Rebellion and, following an explosion from the Death Star, dies on Scariff with Jyn Erso.
Because that timeline is fixed, Andor Season 2 will last roughly four years, accelerating Cassian’s last heroic journey. As fans eagerly anticipate learning which plot points will be realized, the majority of the core cast is anticipated to return.
On April 22, 2025, Andor Season 2 will premiere on Disney+.
June 24, 2025: Iron heart
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, released in 2022, Dominique Thorne made her debut as Riri Williams/Ironheart. Riri’s Ironheart solo series will continue where she left off during her stay in Wakanda, more than two years after that sequel.
In this new series, Riri will journey back to MIT and her hometown of Chicago to hone her new armor. She will draw inspiration for her art from what she witnessed in Wakanda. An epic tech vs. magic battle in the MCU between Riri and the Hood, Anthony Ramos’ horrific new adversary, is also hinted at for this show.
This will be Riri’s first time taking the lead in a story with other heroes and villains of a similar age, and it is anticipated to be full of thrilling action and drama. After numerous delays, excitement is building for the premiere of this series, even if plot elements are still being kept under wraps.
Disney+ will launch Iron heart on June 24, 2025.
