If you’re a fan of Invincible, here’s some exciting news – Season 4 is going to be completely different. Creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that the next season of the Amazon Prime animated series will feature a brand-new original storyline that’s not from the comics.
And this time, Mark Grayson isn’t just fighting aliens or villains… he might be fighting the devil himself. Yes, you read that right. Things are about to get wild in the Invincible universe.
Season 3 Ends, but the Real Twist Comes After
Invincible Season 3 just ended, leaving fans with a lot of questions. But the biggest shock didn’t even come during the episode – it came after the credits. In the post-credits scene of Episode 8, we saw Damien Darkblood (voiced by Clancy Brown) still stuck in the underworld.
Fans of the comics will know that Damien didn’t really have a major role in the original story. But in the animated version, Kirkman has expanded his character, and now, he’s clearly up to something big.
It looks like Damien wants revenge, and his eyes are set on Mark.
Mark May Be Fighting the Devil Next
In a recent interview with Variety, Kirkman dropped a major teaser: Mark Grayson could be going up against Satan in Season 4. According to him, every superhero has a story where they face off against the devil. It’s something seen in both DC and Marvel comics. But it never happened in the Invincible comics – until now.
Kirkman said he always wanted to include such a story but never got around to doing it in the comics. So, he’s bringing it to life in the show instead. And if that post-credits scene is anything to go by, the seeds for that battle have already been planted.
Bruce Campbell’s Surprise Appearance
Another surprise came in the same post-credits scene – a small demon makes a deal with Damien Darkblood. And guess what? That demon is voiced by none other than Bruce Campbell, the horror legend from Evil Dead.
Kirkman couldn’t hide his excitement about this collaboration. He even hinted that Campbell’s character might actually be the devil. Nothing is confirmed yet, but fans are already buzzing with theories.
Invincible’s Own “Filler” Episodes
This isn’t the first time the animated series has gone beyond the comics. In Season 3, the show added extra backstory for the villain Conquest. In one scene, Conquest talks about being lonely and how his missions for the Viltrumite Empire have affected his mental health – something never shown in the comics.
Fans of anime will recognise this as “filler” – new storylines created only for the show. Popular anime like Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball have done it too.
And now Invincible is taking that route, but in a way that feels fresh and exciting.
What This Means for Season 4
So what can fans expect from Season 4? One thing is clear – it won’t just be a direct copy of the comics. Kirkman and the team are taking creative risks, and it’s paying off. With Mark possibly heading into hell and facing a new kind of enemy, Season 4 could be the most intense and surprising one yet.
Also, since the show is already known for emotional depth and brutal action, adding a storyline that involves the underworld and supernatural elements could raise the stakes even higher.
If you thought Invincible was already bold, just wait till you see what comes next.
