Famed South Korean game developer Netmarble has just announced their upcoming Game of Thrones project: Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. Developed by FromSoftware, the game is an action-adventure RPG about the world of Westeros hitting the shelves in 2025. Demo Availability
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’s demo is part of this month’s Steam Next Fest, taking place February 24th to March 3rd, ending at 10AM PST. A lot of upcoming games get demoed at this event, allowing players to try out and see upcoming games. To grab the demo of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, simply go to the game’s Steam page during the festival window, and you should find the title available. The test allows fans to play-test the mechanics of the game and the story before the initial release date.
Game Overview
Based on the HBO original show, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is a story based action adventure RPG that brings Westeros to your finger tips in stunning detail. The player takes control of an illegitimate child of House Tyre, a minor noble house from the North. After your brothers are slain and winter threatens, you take it upon yourself to restore honor to your house and navigate the treacherous political underbelly of the Seven Kingdoms.
Playable Classes
Three unique classes: To top it all off, the game features three different classes, each of which provides its own gameplay experience:
Knight: Focused on melee combat with heavy armor and weapons.
Sellsword: A fighter who excels in both melee and ranged combat.
Assassin: Specializes in sneaky attacks and fast, deadly strikes.
Increased Replayability: Players can select the class that best fits their preferred playstyle.
Cooperative Gameplay
Although this is a largely story driven game, there are coop elements. Players can work together through tough missions and journey through the huge world together. Each class features its own mythical creatures and formidable foes to battle against, and by combining classes, the player will be able to strategize combat against the threats they face.
Familiar Faces
Game of Thrones series fans can be glad to meet our familiar characters across the game. Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, notably returns in hopes of guiding and aiding players on their quest. However, other characters do make an appearance within the game such as Varys, Jaime Lannister and Cersei Lannister, adding additional layers to the story and tying into the well-known series.
Development and Release
With the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad using Unreal Engine 5 to create the most incredible graphics and the most immersive gaming experience possible. Scheduled for a 2025 Q2 launch, the game will be available on PC & mobile (iOS & Android). The developers have stated that there are no plans for a console release, but that doesn’t necessarily rule it out for the future either.
