New Dates Announced for Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 and The Odyssey

Spider-Man 4: November 25, 2026 (originally July 31, 2026) This move plants the film two weeks after Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also stars Holland, and is slated to debut July 17, 2026.

By delaying Spider-Man 4, the thinking here is to provide enough gap between two major releases featuring Holland. The move also gives The Odyssey an exclusive two-week engagement in IMAX theaters before Spider-Man 4 takes over, avoiding both repeated schedule clashes where multiple blockbusters competed for premium screen time at the same time.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will helm Spider-Man 4. Production is expected to start in the middle of 2025. Holland confirmed his excitement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying, “We start shooting next summer. All the pieces are in the right place—almost there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!”

Plot details for Spider-Man 4 are under wraps. In the last installment, Peter Parker wrapped up the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home with a new start after the spell cast by Doctor Strange erased the world’s memory of his secret identity. Fans are now hungry to see how Peter’s journey continues in the next movie.

Besides Spider-Man 4, Holland’s slated to appear in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. The film will feature Matt Damon as Odysseus, and Holland and Zendaya in untitled roles. Dan Mazeau wrote the script for the project, which brings Holland and Zendaya together outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has already created a huge buzz among fans.

Described as a “mythic action epic,” the Odyssey is set for release on July 17, 2026. Locations for filming include the Italian island of Favignana, as well as the United Kingdom and Morocco, to authentically depict the ancient Greek setting of the story.

The Odyssey’s star-studded cast features many actors who have worked with Nolan in the past, taking the likes of Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Matt Damon. This dream team in conjunction with Nolan’s track record for engaging storylines has certainly generated buzz for the film.

With The Odyssey and Spider-Man 4 coming within just two weeks of each other, this moment in Tom Holland’s career is one notably defined by his versatility; genres could not be more different. With roles in both a classic piece of adapted literature and a beloved superhero franchise, fans can’t wait to see him.
