The highly anticipated movie version of the Broadway musical “Wicked” will stream on Peacock starting March 21, 2025.
Following the film’s successful theatrical debut on November 22, 2024, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu have offered firm digital rental availability since December 31, 2024, so this release is a welcome relief.
Jon M. Chu directed “Wicked,” which stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. It has got to be proved one of the best-received movies yet, its grossed a lot more than $700 million globally, it has become the biggest Broadway musical adaptation ever boarded.
And on Peacock premiere, audiences will be treated to exclusive bonus content. The “Defying Gravity” collection features a sing-along version of the film and multiple deleted and extended scenes. Among those are “Pfannee & ShenShen Meet Glinda,” in which Glinda reunites with her friends at Shiz University, and “Toss Toss,” a comedic scene in which Glinda tries to teach Elphaba how to master the hair flip.
Its An Award Nominee Critical Acclaim The Film “Wicked” has earned 10 nominations at the 97th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Erivo, and Best Supporting Actress for Grande. It also received seven nominations at the 78th British Academy Film Awards, winning two awards, as well as the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
Franchise fans have something else to look forward to, as the sequel “Wicked: For Good” is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025. This installment will pick up the story, adapting the second act of the stage musical that inspired it.
