Marvel Rivals

The sequel to the popular team-based PvP shooter published by Marvel Rivals, a brand new Season 1.5 update for the game will be arriving on February 21st 2025.

Adding Human Torch and The Thing from the Fantastic Four, along with balance changes to the mid-season update.

FANTASTIC FOUR HAS ITS FINAL MEMBER

Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman were available in Season 1, and now with the 1.5 update we will have the other half of the Fantastic Four: Human Torch and The Thing. This will have significant implications for team adjustments, and we can expect these iconic heroes to come with distinctive skills that can transform team compositions and strategies. Official specifics on their abilities, as for all upcoming characters, remain under wraps, but in the Marvel Rivals community, excitement is brewing.

As usual, they provide adjustments to bring balance to gameplay.

And while the Season 1.5 update is hot with the addition of new heroes, it all equally revolves around polishing and tuning the heroes currently in the game to make for a fun experience. Key adjustments include:

Captain America: Enhanced survivability through the capacity to shield him mid-jump, increased projectile speed for his Vibranium Energy Saw, and decreased energy value for his last capacity, Freedom Charge.

Doctor Strange — Base health decreased slightly, to help balance his very powerful abilities.

Opening romantic time and space: Groot: Thorns Lash Wall placement range increased.

Magneto: Increased damage on his Iron Volley attack, but a slight nerf to the duration of his Metallic Curtain defense.

Thor: User experience has been improved following the use of his Awakening Rune, cooldown times common to both weapons have been removed, enabling more fluid combat sequences.

Reworked adjustments to Venom: knockback effects of his frenzy arrival have been adjusted and energy cost of ultimate ability, Feast of the Abyss, has been reduced, making him a more vicious adversary.

The adjustments are a result of ongoing analysis and feedback from the game’s community, demonstrating the developers’ dedication to keeping the competitive and gameplay balance in check.

Blade Teased for Future Release

Learned that in addition to the confirmed updates, there’s a strong possibility Blade, the iconic vampire hunter making his MCU debut soon, will also make an appearance. Teases such as art showcasing a clash between Blade and his current season foe, Dracula, have trickled out. This has made way for assumptions of Blade possibly being a playable character soon — maybe Season 2.

Developer Responsiveness and Community Engagement

The Marvel Rivals team has proven itself to be very community-oriented. It was originally intended that there would be a mid-season rank reset, but developers changed their plans after listening to plenty of feedback stating players attach plenty of their effectiveness to their rank and rate of score gain, so existing rankings and scores will remain. This move highlights their commitment to providing a fun and gamer-centric experience.

Looking Ahead

The Season 1.5 update is fast approaching on February 21, and fans have been eagerly speculating what this update will entail. Gamers are excited to test out the new heroes, feel the new balance changes, and what will shift in meta. And now, with Blade possibly on the way, Marvel Rivals will undoubtedly be keeping its player base fed with exciting and interesting content.
