GTA VI (Grand Theft Auto VI) is perhaps the most anticipated video game of the last few years.
The studio has confirmed that the sequel will be released in fall 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. PC gamers, however, may need to wait, with the PC version slated to be a little later, possibly in early 2026.
Console Release Details
Rockstar Games has a longstanding record of prioritizing console releases before it makes PC versions available. It does the same with GTA 6, developed primarily for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The decision is in line with the company’s financial interests, since roughly half its revenue comes from console sales. Consoles make up about 40% of Take-Two Interactive’s annual revenue, as per reports, whereas PC platforms generate around 8%. This financial difference explains why it makes sense to focus on consoles first.
PC Release Speculations
The release of GTA 6 for PC is currently speculative as there is no confirmation on it. Rockstar has a history of putting off PC versions of their bigger games. GTA V, for example, came to consoles in September 2013 but only reached PC in April 2015 (over a year later). The same goes for Red Dead Redemption 2, which had a year-long delay between hitting consoles and making its way to PC. Following this trend, a few analysts have gone as far as suggesting that GTA 6’s PC version could reach us in late 2026 or even 2027.
But there are signs that the wait will be shorter this time. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, speaking on a recent earnings call, described the PC release as uncertain, noting that Rockstar has a history of releasing their titles across the two platforms at different times and that nothing is “set in stone.” He reiterated the company’s approach of being wherever consumers are, hinting that a PC edition is forthcoming, but the details will be revealed accordingly.
Possible Improvements and New Features
GTA 6 is going to provide us an immersive gaming experience with many new options it includes:
Dual Protagonists: For the first time in the series, players can take control of two main protagonists, including a female lead named Lucia.
Open World Vastness: The game takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, which represents Florida and has environments that include cities, beaches, and swamp.
Advanced Graphics: New graphics capabilities such as ray tracing, procedural generation, and volumetric clouds.
Destruction Physics: An advanced destruction physics system that allows on-the-fly application to physical interactions between the buildings in the game and the player’s weaponry; 40±% of buildings in any game will be explorable.
Realistic NPC AI: It will result in more realistic behaviors for NPCs, offering a variety of interactions and side missions.
Diverse Outdoors: Lots of wildlife, such as crocodiles and flamingos, will also populate the game world.
